How to Take Aligned Action When You Feel Torn Between Options
A grounded guide for the moments when you want to move forward — but every option feels equally possible, meaningful, or risky.
There’s a very particular kind of stuckness that doesn’t come from confusion… it comes from too much clarity.
You see multiple options.
You can imagine several futures.
You can articulate the pros and cons of each.
You feel ready to take action…
…but you can’t pick a direction.
You hover in the doorway — not because you’re afraid, but because your heart, body, intuition, and mind haven’t quite merged into a single “yes.”

You’re actually standing in one of the most powerful phases of your Glow Journey — the moment where your identity expands faster than your certainty.
And you’re learning how to take aligned action — the kind that comes from inner truth, not pressure.
A personal story about being pulled in multiple directions
I continually live in moments where I had several aligned options in front of me that spark a little bit of ‘yes’ in me — and instead of feeling empowered, I feel frozen. How do you choose when none of the choices are wrong?
I generally have NO shortage of ideas. I can take the threads of possibility and weave them into a plan for something real. My inherent optimism and desire for people and things to utilize their full potential can be a gift and inspiration for action. But it can also lead to inaction because there is a fear of choosing when it means letting go some of those possibilities by deciding and picking a path. So like the classic Dodgeball movie, I dodge, duck, dip, dive and errr… dodge.
This is still something that I am learning to suss out, especially in my business journey. It’s a lesson in focus and where to put my attention and energy to make the progress I ultimately desire. When I can recognize these feelings, then I can start to do something about the moment I’m stuck in and actually move through it rather than spinning my wheels with actions that don’t lead anywhere.
I recently had my own Clarity session with myself, going through my world of all things Firefly Scout and realizing what is truly aligned with the core message and what is a relevant side path, but ultimately dilutes my energy and my message. Once I was able to articulate to myself about what really ‘belonged’ under this umbrella and what needed to find a different home, I felt a clear sense of clarity about what goes in which lane. Decisions are much clearer and truly decisive rather than looping with hesitation. And while I’m not starting a 3rd business (yet), I feel more confident knowing that when the time is right, all of those ideas will find a home in a better aligned place so that I can launch it with purpose and focus.
This was a huge lesson in understanding my capacity for ‘all the things’ and being honest about where trying to make it all fit into one box hasn’t been working. Since then I have made more strategic moves with more confidence and I can already sense how they are shifting the trajectory of where I’m going.
Why you feel torn (and why it’s actually a good sign)
So like I shared from my own personal story, feeling torn doesn’t mean the options are wrong. It means you’re evolving.
We live with multiple layers of ourselves on a timeline of personal evolution. When we start hit one of the many wrinkles in our journey, it can be a sign that you’re on the cusp of a transformation and an enduring shift of change. When you’re experiencing one or more of these internal dynamics-
1. Your identity is shifting faster than your decisions
You’re feeling the pull of who you’re becoming — but you haven’t yet learned her language. Moving forward feels undeniable yet uncertain at the same time.
2. Your nervous system is evaluating safety, not logic
You question whether you have the capacity to handle struggles of breaking old patterns and discovering the rhythm of new ones. It’s checking- “Can we maintain this? Can we trust this? Will this support our energy long-term?”
3. Your intuition is speaking quietly — not because it’s unclear, but because you’re listening for the wrong signal
Most people listen for a loud answer, a certain wave of clarity that flips like a switch and the path forward simply appears. However, your intuition speaks in sensations, resonance, warmth, or relief. It works by revealing one piece at a time or a passing flash of the big picture before returning you back to the present. Evolutionary change happens one shift at a time.
4. You’re choosing between aligned options, not misaligned ones
When we can acknowledge the feelings that are holding us back, the stories that keeping us from believing in the possibility of what’s next, we can address these cues from our nervous system. This is a high-quality problem. It means you’re growing. Understanding the flow of your Glow is a key factor in understanding your next right move.
The issue isn’t indecision — it’s alignment calibration.
Where this “torn” feeling appears in your life
This isn’t a ‘fix it and a forget it’ situation. As you keep moving through this journey of life, you will come across roadblocks each time you approach a fork in the road, a point of evolution. Once you notice this pattern, you’ll see it everywhere-
In your work-
Two projects feel equally meaningful.
Or a new direction opens while the current one still fits.
In your creative life-
You have more ideas than capacity — and they all feel alive.
In your relationships-
You’re navigating the tension between your own growth and the stability of others.
In your next-level dreams-
Everything feels possible… and that alone creates pressure.
This may start to feel like a ‘road less traveled’ analogy, but the beauty is this isn’t paralysis. It’s pregnancy energy — the tension that comes before birth. As we learn to recognize it and use the tools that support us in this phase of the journey, we can reclaim the excitement of this moment.
How to take aligned action when you feel torn between options
Even though you may feel lost, stuck or unsure, there actually is a formula you can start to follow to help you honor what your nervous system is telling you and take the aligned action to keep moving. Here’s the framework that removes friction and reveals your next step with surprising clarity.
1. Instead of choosing the best option, choose the one that feels most alive
“Best” is a mind-based question.
“Alive” is an intuitive question.
Try asking yourself “Which option creates the most internal warmth or curiosity right now?”
Asking what your body, your intuition has to say helps you find the path of least-energetic resistance. Even a 2% difference is enough data to follow.
2. Listen for the sensation—not the sentence
Alignment doesn’t speak in words. The most intuitive parts of ourselves don’t have access to words. It speaks in subtle signals that can look or feel like-
a softening
a leaning forward
a slight excitement
a grounded quiet
a relaxed exhale
a feeling of “this feels like me”
If your body stutters, that’s data. If your chest lifts, that’s data. If your jaw unclenches, that’s data.
Your intuition is incredibly precise — you just haven’t been taught how to read its metrics.
(This is where your Human Design can deepen this even further — knowing your specific intuitive cues and how your inner authority communicates is life-changing.)
3. Replace commitment anxiety with the “Next 5% Rule”
We feel anxiety over making the big choice, forgetting that in many situations you don’t have to choose the whole path. Just the next move.
Be brave enough to ask yourself “What’s the next 5% of this option?” This will help you build a pattern of sustainable action that leads you further, faster as these small steps add up.
Examples could show up as-
One email
One conversation
One sketch
One outline
One hour
One experiment
Action reveals alignment. If action feels harder than it seems it should be, notice what feelings and stories are coming up that are creating resistance. When you address them you are freer to take action. That movement clarifies momentum. You don’t need certainty to begin — beginning creates certainty.
4. Test each option through the lens of energy, not obligation
Don’t be afraid to experiment and play with what creates a feeling that you want more or less of. Develop the habit of checking in and asking yourself-
“Which option feels heavy vs. expansive?”
“Which option asks me to be more of myself?
“Which option feels like it belongs to the now-version of me, not the past?”
Aligned action almost always feels-
lighter
warmer
more honest
less performative
more natural

5. Pay attention to which option you keep coming back to when you’re not thinking
Your intuition decides long before your mind catches up. It’s doing the quiet calculations within the core of your being, trying to keep you safe while also guiding you to fulfilling your soul’s potential. These little ripple effects are strategy in motion. Things that happen in the quiet everyday moments are speaking louder than can even imagine.
Build and support yourself in the practice of noticing-
what you daydream about
what you talk about without prompting
what your mind wanders to in the shower
what you imagine on your walks
what feels like a relief to admit
Your intuition is the quiet leader. Your mind is the analyst. Your body is the truth-teller.
Get out of your own way and let them collaborate.
6. Use the “two future selves” exercise
Sometimes we need to step into the future and imagine what it feels like to embody the results of our actions. Noticing how we anticipate different choices playing out can help lead us to the most aligned choice and suss out where fears or doubts are clouding our clarity.
Choose Option A.
Imagine living it for 24 hours.
How does it feel?
What feels expansive and what frictions come up?
Then do the same with Option B.
With the data we collect during this exercise, we can use it to sit with and notice which future feels-
more peaceful?
more energizing?
more you?
Your next step is the one that makes your system exhale because it feels more like an inevitable destiny, not a forced destination.
7. Ask the Experimenter’s question
Living with a sense of curiosity is what opens us up to the threads of action that feel aligned to follow. Embody your inner Experimenter and ask yourself “Which option feels like a gentle next step, not a grand declaration?” Ask this question to yourself in your journal, on a walk, in the liminal moments as you wake up or drift off to sleep or even in the shower. See where it leads you.
Aligned action rarely roars.
It usually whispers.
Your turning point
