When Your To-Do List is About More Than Just Getting Things Done

Since this season of ‘crispiness’ started, I’ve been orienting my actions toward what I’ve been sensing in my Glow needs support and replenishment.

Parts of me that needed direction, evidence, care, connection.

This has looked like-

  • crafting a ‘delusional’ vision journaling practice that reoriented my core dream with the path to get there

  • picking a spot in each area of my house and tending to it so that every time I walk in that room, I can see evidence of ‘crispiness’ cleared

  • reducing my sense of overwhelm by noticing where I am over-complicating something as a form of self-preservation

  • going through a storage tub of college notebooks I grabbed from my parents attic ahem, several, months ago, tossing most of it out but finding a few gems I texted to friends to reminisce

Another part of this was deciding that the most important thing was to enjoy these last few weeks of summer while also preparing ourselves for the back to school routine.

Knowing that earlier bedtimes will need to be reinforced, but not letting an opportunity to chase fireflies with my youngest pass me by.

With each of these oriented actions, I can feel my Glow responding, expanding my capacity for ‘all the things’.

This was more than forcing productivity or celebrating that I got some things done on my to-do list.

By noticing where I need to Tend to my current conditions before Offering up more than I have to give, that ‘crispy’ feeling is clearing and I feel more ready to navigate what's next.

What are the current conditions in your landscape?

The seasonal Field Report shares the insights you can use to help navigate ‘all the things’ and use your efforts more effectively.

Find Your Bearings

This Week’s Field Observation

If you are feeling like you have the cart before the horse or that you need some evidence that something, anything, is making progress in your life...

Take a moment and name something simple that would help you feel more supported in the landscape you're living.

Get off the hamster wheel and regain your bearings in what you actually need to support you.

Pick one visible spot in your home and consider what it needs to help you see it as a supportive form of evidence of what conditions you are navigating. The Field Report is a simple way to help you name what that could be for you.

  • Clearing out a shelf so that the important things show up with more prominence and order

  • Removing dead leaves from plants and wiping down the leaves to create better growth conditions

  • Go through your closet and find some pieces that could be offered to someone else by donating or listing online

  • Find a spot that has too much visual clutter and clear it out so that feel a sense of rest when you look at it

  • Open a box that's been in storage and see if anything can be used to refresh a space or repurposed

By creating these little pockets of evidence, it creates little visual touchstones that support you as you start to replenish your Glow and move through the season. I can attest to the transformation because I did each of these myself this week.

For me, it wasn’t getting things done on a to-do list, it was creating a web of supportive ripple effects that is making me feel far less ‘crispy’ and more ready for the juiciness that fall brings.

Find your bearings again in whatever season you feel you are navigating and help yourself feel replenished in the places where life has been draining you.

Thanks for being in the field with me.
