The Present That ‘Won’ My Christmas
Even if it’s not 100% accurate, this little house brings me so much delight.
This year my mother-in-law totally created the spark that ‘won’ Christmas for me. If you’ve hung out with me for a while, you’ve likely picked up on my enduring love of Gilmore girls. I low-key quote it, wear clothes inspired by and ‘as seen on’ the show and built some amazing friendships from our mutual love of the show. So while I have been repeatedly disappointed that Lego hasn’t put any of the amazing fan submissions into production, I was excited to see that there was a knock-off version available of the iconic blue and white trimmed house we see on the show. And while I did put it on my Christmas list, I was beyond thrilled when I pulled back the paper and saw what was underneath.
On reflection, it even surprised me how much my pure reaction of excitement was. As adults, we lose that sense of wonder, excitement and anticipation so this was a reminder to find ways to create more opportunities for that this coming year.
So maybe it wasn’t even about the gift at all.
But the reminder of the power of these experiences and to use the magic that Anticipation has in our lives.
