Baskin Creek Falls Hike

My family is building a tradition to take a road trip the week before Thanksgiving. This is our 3rd year (maybe 4th?) and this time we ended up in Gatlinburg, TN. Definitely an ambitious 8.5 hour drive for us (and the dog), but we made it here and had lots of memorable moments (for good and bad).

We tried to do a shorter, easier hike on our last day but the parking lot was full, so we drove on and found what looked like a nice path that also promised a waterfall. Friends, there was indeed a waterfall and we did survive, but man there were a LOT of dramatic feelings about how much the life had been drained out of them. In the end, we learned some good life (and parenting) lessons and discovered just how well a AB+J sandwich can turn things around.

So if you’re ever in the area, apparently Grotto Falls is a lovely hike, but get there even earlier than we did. The Baskin Creek Falls trail served up stories we’ll be laughing about for years (once our legs recover).
