Firefly Scout Field Notes
This is where I share field notes from the work of navigating a complex, heart-led life, blending personal experience with practical insight.
You’ll find thoughtful essays, practical frameworks, and experience-based guidance — rooted in real life, nervous-system awareness, and pattern noticing.
These aren’t personal diary entries or quick takes. They’re reflections meant to help you orient, understand what’s happening beneath the surface, and move forward with more clarity and ease.
Take what’s useful. Leave the rest.
The Things We Carry
A couple weeks ago, I took my youngest son to a check-up for a congenital condition he had surgery for in the first year of his life. It was repairable and everything has been improving in the four years since. So I wasn’t too worried, but there is that lingering “what if” until you get the okay.
Honor Your Journey
How did I get here?
We get caught up in the minutia of the day to day that we lose perspective of the path that got us here.
Our eyes focused on what’s right in front of us. Read why it’s important to reflect on and honor your journey.
Liminal Moments
It made me feel a sense of melancholy for the ability to make plans to go, really anywhere, especially by air. I sighed a little as I thought of who could be on board and imagining sitting in the airplane seat, looking out the window; a journey in a state of transition, just beginning or ending. It reminded me of times I’ve sat there looking out an airplane window, thinking in my own world, watching the world come into view, trying to make sense of our approach path and enjoying that bit of magical unknown.
